My Story

Jaime Papa

I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Regis University in 2005. I also earned my Juris Doctor degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2009. I interned with the Office of the Denver District Attorney, the Rocky Mountain Children’s Law Center, and competed in various moot court competitions, both national and international. In addition, I was elected President of the Jewish Law Students Association and Secretary of the Student Trial Lawyers Association.
After law school, I felt called to military service for our country, so I was commissioned as a field artillery officer in the United States Army. During a deployment to Afghanistan, I led a platoon on over 100 combat missions, bringing home safely all of the soldiers under my command.
I earned a position with an excellent printing company named Belmark, Inc. and worked for them in business-to-business sales generating over $17 million in five years. I earned my licenses during this time and practiced law in Missouri and Texas. I filed lawsuits against more than ten companies located in multiple states, achieving successful results in each case.
In addition, I served as a company commander in the United States Army Reserve and a tutor and essay grader for BarMax. After transitioning from Belmark, Inc., I received offers to work for a corporate law firm and a family law firm. I worked as a family law attorney for O’Neil Wysocki for a brief amount of time before opening the doors to my own law firm on January 6, 2021.
I invested heavily in my education and technology to support my law firm and ensure that my clients receive superior service. I am committed to protecting families and business owners for a lifetime through business law, estate planning, and civil litigation.

Jaime's Passion For The Law and Service To Others

Law school was a dream; the University of Denver Sturm College of Law was my dream school; and a career as an attorney was my dream profession that I prayed for often.
I knew the University of Denver’s admission staff by name and even requested an interview, uncommon for applicants. I remember jumping around my room by myself in pure joy and thanking the almighty when I received my acceptance letter to law school.
I also remember the feeling of contentment I had just walking through the doors of my law school on a daily basis. Law school was one of the most incredible experiences of my life, and being an attorney is a dream realized and a prayer answered.
I prayed and reflected deeply about the type of law firm I wanted to build and the impact I wanted it to have on my communities in Texas and Missouri. I decided to build this law firm focused on families and business owners. It is value-based and client-focused and It will treat employees fairly, support clients for a lifetime, and make a lasting and positive impact on my communities.

Background

I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from the University of Texas at Austin in 2018. I then went on to earn my Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law in 2023. Beginning my second semester of law school, I interned with a solo practitioner to learn business and estate planning with a specific focus on providing small businesses with a structure to minimize their tax liability. I later participated in my first clinic where I led a team in helping a client set up her exotic animal rescue. For the remainder of my law school career, I interned at Bond and Brown and participated in the Probate clinic where I garnered most of my estate planning and probate experience. While working in the Probate clinic, I took my first case to court and successfully probated a will. In my last semester at South Texas College of Law, I participated in the Landlord and Tenant Clinic where I assisted with evictions and learned how to navigate the Texas Property Code.
During law school I often volunteered at Southern Breeze Equestrian Center teaching disabled children and new riders how to work with and ride horses. There, I developed my leadership skills, ability to communicate, and the human compassion needed in the legal field. My work at this facility also encouraged me to bring home my first rescue horse. It was my work with her that ignited a passion for rehabbing and training horses. A year later, I started a nonprofit organization with the goal of rescuing equines in dire need of medical care and rehabilitation. A few months later, my husband and I purchased a farm and took home four severely malnourished donkeys as our first step towards that goal. If I’m not in the office, you will find me in the pasture working with our rescues or in the arena training my horse.

After law school, I interned for two law firms while putting in my time each day for Bar Exam preparations. At the Law Office of Erica J. Jeffcoat, I focused on drafting estate planning documents and assisting in probate matters. At the Law Office of Mario Varela, Mario taught me how to form 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and also provided me with more business formation practice.
I passed the Uniform Bar Exam with a score high enough to practice in all Uniform Bar Exam jurisdictions, and I accepted a position at JVP Law, PLLC, PLLC. At JVP Law, PLLC, I have worked in over two dozen corporate litigation cases in the areas of employee termination, contract, defamation, easement disputes, deceptive trade practices, and fraud.
