My Story

Jaime Papa

Attorney in Plano, Texas
I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Regis University in 2005. I also earned my Juris Doctor degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2009. I interned with the Office of the Denver District Attorney, the Rocky Mountain Children’s Law Center, and competed in various moot court competitions, both national and international. In addition, I was elected President of the Jewish Law Students Association and Secretary of the Student Trial Lawyers Association.
After law school, I felt called to military service for our country, so I was commissioned as a field artillery officer in the United States Army. During a deployment to Afghanistan, I led a platoon on over 100 combat missions, bringing home safely all of the soldiers under my command.
I earned a position with an excellent printing company named Belmark, Inc. and worked for them in business-to-business sales generating over $17 million in five years. I earned my licenses during this time and practiced law in Missouri and Texas. I filed lawsuits against more than ten companies located in multiple states, achieving successful results in each case.
In addition, I served as a company commander in the United States Army Reserve and a tutor and essay grader for BarMax. After transitioning from Belmark, Inc., I received offers to work for a corporate law firm and a family law firm. I worked as a family law attorney for O’Neil Wysocki for a brief amount of time before opening the doors to my own law firm on January 6, 2021.
I invested heavily in my education and technology to support my law firm and ensure that my clients receive superior service. I am committed to protecting families and business owners for a lifetime through business law, estate planning, and civil litigation.

Jaime's Passion For The Law and Service To Others

Law school was a dream; the University of Denver Sturm College of Law was my dream school; and a career as an attorney was my dream profession that I prayed for often.
I knew the University of Denver’s admission staff by name and even requested an interview, uncommon for applicants. I remember jumping around my room by myself in pure joy and thanking the almighty when I received my acceptance letter to law school.
I also remember the feeling of contentment I had just walking through the doors of my law school on a daily basis. Law school was one of the most incredible experiences of my life, and being an attorney is a dream realized and a prayer answered.
I prayed and reflected deeply about the type of law firm I wanted to build and the impact I wanted it to have on my communities in Texas and Missouri. I decided to build this law firm focused on families and business owners. It is value-based and client-focused and It will treat employees fairly, support clients for a lifetime, and make a lasting and positive impact on my communities.

Background

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Government from the University of Texas at Austin in 2018 and my Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law Houston in 2023.
During my second semester of law school, I began interning with a solo practitioner, where I learned business formation, corporate governance, and estate planning, with a particular focus on helping small businesses structure themselves to minimize tax liability. I later led a clinical team that successfully formed a nonprofit exotic animal rescue, managing the process from client intake through entity formation and compliance.
Throughout law school, I continued to develop practical legal experience. I interned at Bond & Brown and participated in the Probate Clinic, where I gained substantial estate planning and probate experience and took my first case to court, successfully probating a will. In my final semester, I joined the Landlord–Tenant Clinic, where I worked on eviction matters and developed strong familiarity with the Texas Property Code.

Outside the legal field, I volunteered at Southern Breeze Equestrian Center, where I taught disabled children and new riders horsemanship and riding skills. That experience strengthened my communication, leadership, and patience—qualities that continue to shape my approach to practicing law.

After graduating, I interned with the Law Office of Erica J. Jeffcoat, drafting estate planning documents and assisting with probate administration, and with the Law Office of Mario Varela, where I gained additional corporate experience and assisted in forming 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. I passed the Uniform Bar Exam with a score high enough to qualify for admission in all Uniform Bar Exam jurisdictions.
As an attorney at JVP Law, PLLC, I have worked on over 200–300 litigation and transactional matters across Texas and other jurisdictions. My experience includes:
  • Corporate and commercial disputes involving breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, conversion, fraud, and defamation
  • Real estate and landlord–tenant litigation, including constructive eviction, habitability claims, easement disputes, and commercial lease disputes
  • Consumer protection and deceptive trade practices claims under the Texas DTPA
  • Business and transactional work, including drafting and negotiating settlement agreements, membership interest purchase agreements (MIPAs), promissory notes, operating agreements, and asset transfer documents
My clients range from small business owners to individuals involved in complex, high-stake disputes. My practice is rooted in preparation, strategy, and clear communication. Whether I am litigating a high-stakes business dispute or advising a small business through a transaction, my goal is simple: protect my client’s interests and achieve the best possible outcome.
When I’m not practicing law, you can usually find me training my horse, Valentina, or spending time at the barn.
